Lieutenant James Hatler

Lieutenant James Hatler began his law enforcement career at the Martin Police Department in 1995 as a patrol officer. He was promoted to Patrol Lieutenant in 2000 and served there until he transferred to our Criminal Investigations Division in 2007. In 2011 he was promoted to the rank of  Lieutenant of Investigations.

Lieutenant Hatler currently serves as the Lieutenant of the Criminal Investigations Division. His duties include assisting Captain Erwin in day to day operations of CID and assisting in general investigations. He specialized in investigations concerning physical and sexual abuse of children. He is a liaison officer to the Knoxville Police Department FBI internet crime against children task force.

Lieutenant Hatler graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville National Forensic academy in 2012.
