Lieutenant John Cross
Lieutenant John Cross began his law enforcement career at the Martin Police Department in 2000 as a School Resource Officer at the Martin Middle School. He transferred to Patrol Division in 2003 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in Patrol Division in 2011.
Lieutenant Cross currently serves as a Patrol Lieutenant and reports directly to the Captain of Patrol Division. His duties include Departmental Head Firearms Instructor, Less Lethal Weapons Instructor, Taser Instructor, Active Shooter Response Instructor, Team Commander for the 27th Judicial District Special Response Team (SRT), and Officer in Charge of the Martin Police Department Honor Guard.
Lieutenant Cross graduated from Sharon High School in 1989 and the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1996 with a double Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice and Public Administration. He also graduated from the Community College of the Air Force in 1994 with an A.A.S. in Security Administration.
Lieutenant Cross has served in the Tennessee Air National Guard (Nashville) since 1993 and currently holds the rank of Master Sergeant (E-7) in the Security Forces Squadron. He is a member of the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) and Enlisted Association of the Tennessee National Guard. He is also a 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner, and Past Master of Dresden Masonic Lodge #90.
