Chief

Chief Don Teal began his law enforcement career at the Martin Police Department in 1983 as a patrol officer. He was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 1990 and served there until 1995 when he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant of the Patrol Division.

Chief Teal has worked in the Patrol, Criminal Investigations, and Administrative Divisions at various times in his career from 1995 to the present. While serving as the Administrative Captain, his duties included Communications supervisor, Accreditation Manager, Evidence Custodian, Public Information Officer, Crisis Negotiator for the 27th Judicial District Special Response Team, General Departmental Instructor (GDI), and Public Relations officer.

Chief Teal graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1981 with a B.S. degree in Education. He is a graduate of the 185th Session of the FBI National Academy in 1996.

Chief Teal is a member of the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police (TACP), FBI National Academy Associates (FBINAA), and the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Officers Association (TLETOA).
