Multi-Vehicle Crash

by

Martin Police Department officers and Tennessee Highway Patrol are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that occurred this morning at the intersection of Main St. and College St.  At 7:09 this morning, Martin P.D. began receiving calls reporting the crash. It appears as though a 2015 Freightliner driven by Curtis Rugg, 48 from Holmen, WI, failed to stop at the intersection as it was traveling west on Main St.  The tractor-trailer struck a 2002 black Chevrolet Blazer as it was crossing the intersection traveling south on College St. in the intersection. The Blazer was being driven by Katherine McKeel, 35 of Martin. She had four juveniles in the vehicle with her as passengers.  When the truck hit the Blazer, it pushed it into a 2012 white Ford Focus that was sitting at the stop sign headed east on Main St. The Ford Focus was being driven by Nancy Gonzalez, 36 of Martin. She had three juveniles as passengers in her vehicle. Ms. McKeel did have to be extricated from her vehicle by Martin Fire Department personnel.

The driver of the semi was unhurt, Ms. McKeel and two of her juvenile passengers were transported for medical attention and one of the juveniles in the vehicle driven by Ms. Gonzalez was transported.  All transported persons had minor injuries that were reported as non-life-threatening.
